Dwaraka Plus - Kalamkari Art
With the purchase of this product you have helped us to determine our own destinies, and rescript our lives. We are the urban poor and village artisan communities from different parts of India who have come together under the DWARAKA movement.
Hand painted kalamkari art using natural vegetable dyes was on the throes of fading out into extinction. It was revived by DWARAKA in and around our villages of the Srikalahasthi region in Andhra Pradesh, since the turn of this millennium. This unique and distinctive product has been handcrafted using hand painted kalamkari artwork. Supported by DWARAKA Foundation (an initiative of Dwaraknath Reddy Ramanarpanam Trust), thousands of our families and communities have been touched, impacting our socio – economic – cultural development.
DWARAKA PLUS – (Peoples Livelihoods Upliftment Society), inspired by the DWARAKA movement is a registered society and a village enterprise owned by us the rural women artists. We apply our skills to produce marketable goods, not only preserving a stunningly beautiful artform, but also generating income for our family’s survival and sustainable development.
You have helped reinforce our faith in the DWARAKA journey, reinvigorate our energies, and revitalize the potential of artisans in rural art and craft. We are happy to place this quality product in your hands. We respect your patronage of DWARAKA, thank you and look forward to your continuing support.
